First off, I went to see two Christmas films in the cinema with some colleagues. The films were Love Actually and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Both films I never got to see in cinema when they came out because I was either too young or not even born yet! I had a lot of fun indulging in all the Christmassy fun this time around.
Then there was the Christmas mood at the office. Everybody was getting ready for the Christmas Party on Friday and a lot of things were organised. Not only the cooking and baking I mentioned last week, but also Secret Santa draw and a decorating competition. My Thursday and Friday mornings were all about decorating. On Thursday the whole team decorated their own space with streamers, baubles and Christmassy stickers. We also each changed our desktop into a Christmas picture of some sort.
On Friday morning, Zora, my supervisor and I made a paper Christmas tree to put on the pole that you can see in the picture on the left of the screen. We also decorated the tree with baubles and Christmas lights. We even printed out some presents to put under the tree.
I think it may not surprise you that we won this contest. To be honest, there was only one other team actually competing with us and they had some really good decorations too, but they did not have our tree.
Friday night, it was time for my second Deluxe Christmas Party. This time it was just for the people of the Soho Square office. I had a lot of fun. Everybody had cooked something (I had baked chocolate chip cookies, but they dit not turn out as well as I had hoped), there were games we could play, but mostly there was a lot of dancing. As I am not that much of a dancer, at some point I was sitting on the couch, holding the camera of my supervisor taking pictures of everything that was going on, together with one of my colleagues, who doesn't really dance either.
I ended up staying until the end of the night and cleaning up the office a bit.
My weekend, I spent in bed, sick. Now, before you make assumptions, I can explain. On Thursday our fire alarm went off, so we had to get outside as soon as possible. As a lot of people did, I grabbed my scarf and jacket and took them outside with me. As it didn't feel that cold while I was walking, I only put on my scarf and jacket when we arrived at the meeting point. Later that day I started sneezing, Friday the sneezing got worse and on Saturday, well, let's not talk about my Saturday. Today I feel a bit better, but my bed still feels really good to me. I am now trying to take as much rest as I can, because tomorrow morning my alarm is set for 4. I'l be flying home early in the morning for a week of cat hugging and celebrating Christmas with my family!
I will see you next week (all better, I hope).
